1860 Base Ball at the Richfield Historial Society

Come out and see Base Ball, yes! – Two words, as it was originally meant to be played. The Quicksteps will play the Arlington Greys using the rules of 1860, reproduction bats and balls, clad in the uniforms of the era. Social Distancing and COVID safety procedures will be observed by players and fans. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and sit along the foul lines (at a safe and discrete distance) to feel what it was like when families would bring picnic lunches and actually sit in the outfield (we won’t go that far) so they could cheer for the favorites and heckle the opponents close up and to their faces!!

June 19, 2021 @ 11:00 am

Youngsters and those a bit older will be able to learn the rules and take a turn at the bat. A banjo player will provide musical interludes. There will be a recitation of “Casey at the Bat”. Come inside and watch Abbott and Costello do their beloved comedy sketch “Who’s on First”, and more!! There may be a chance that there will actually be three teams playing, so there would be three matches for you to view!! Entry is Free, but donations are welcomed!! Come inside and see the base ball exibit.
