GIVEMN – Give to the Max Day

November 17, 2022 All day

We believe Richfield is one of the most caring cities in the nation, and that’s why GiveMN works to help connect generous donors like you with nonprofits such as the Richfield Historical Society to make Richfield a better place. We don’t want to simply reslice the giving pie — we want to grow it.

Minnesota’s nonprofits strengthen communities such as Richfield, thanks in large part to the generosity of people like you. Although nearly all nonprofits are now accepting donations online, nearly 70% said they are not confident that their fundraising strategy will allow them to sustain their important work.

We at the Richfield Historical Society work to acquire, document, and preserve the unique story of Richfield, Minnesota. In addition, our mission is to inspire a sense of place and history through the details of our past.

Richfield has been an example of Minnesota growth, from the fur trade, through agricultural growth, Riley Bartholomew becoming a member of the commission that wrote the Minnesota State Constitution, and then serving in the second state legislature, through being a township, village, and finally a growing suburb!  From being part of Fort Snelling, keeping whites out of Indigenous people’s lands to being home to the first mall in America, Richfield has been a leader.  The Richfield Historical Society houses that entire story!

The Richfield Historical Society was formed in 1967 to preserve and share the history of the Bartholomew House. The House Museums stands as a reminder of an agricultural age in Richfield before large farmsteads gave way to tracks of suburban homes. Built by Riley Bartholomew for his family in 1852, the house is now a museum giving visitors a chance to learn about farm life in Richfield.

Thirty-eight years later, in 2005, the Richfield History Center was built as a new resource for citizens and visitors of Richfield to discover the interesting history of Richfield.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization so your contributions to our non-profit organization are tax-exempt.

We will be sending newsletter, email, Facebook and other reminders during the month of November.  Please keep us in your giving plans!!
