6PM – 8PM
6711 Lake Shore Drive
Richfield, MN 55423
Our annual meeting and dinner is just around the corner. Enjoy a catered meal with other friends of the Richfield Historical Society. Social hour will start at 6PM with dinner to begin around 6:30. You may choose between roast beef, pasta, or chicken dinner with meals being prepared by the kitchens of Richfield’s VFW post.
Following dinner, board member and historian, Bob Glancy, will present a talk on the historic Gates Mansion along the shores of Lake of the Isles. It was the biggest house ever built in Minneapolis, about 38,000 sq. ft! In fact, some of the rooms would have held a 2BR Richfield rambler. Meeting attendees will get a visual tour through and around the mansion. You will meet Charles Gates, son of Bet-a-Million Gates, one of the biggest tycoons at the turn of the 20th century. Don’t miss it!
To give you additional context in advance of Mr. Glancy’s talk, take a look at this StarTribune article.
Tickets are $25/person and are payable at the door by check, cash or credit card. And while you don’t have to pay until you arrive on Saturday night, we have to know you’re coming by Wednesday, March 23 so we can have your meal prepared.
Just call (612-798-6140) and let us know you’re coming and which meal option you prefer. You may leave a message with your choices, or if you prefer to talk to a real human being, call between noon and 4PM on Wednesdays or Saturdays.
