Maps? We’ve got maps, allright.

A man stopped by the Richfield History Center today just to ask directions. Happy to oblige, I looked around for a map…and I saw plenty of them. We have many historical maps but nary a one was what I could say was “modern.” Undaunted, I used a large format aerial photo from 1940 to point him in the right direction. Luckily, all the streets he needed to reach his destination had already been plotted by 1940! I could have used another map on display but it was from 1886 and I couldn’t very well have told him to take a right at the Irwin Farm, now could I?
