A Swedish Group’s Reservation at the B House

On Saturday, June 6, we had 20 guests from the TC Dala Forening Society from the American Swedish Institute hold a picnic in our backyard.

They are a social group whose connection is to Dalarna, a province in Sweden that has a specialty in preserving their heritage. I was thrilled to receive a phone call from Joann, one of their members and a Richfield resident. On picnic day, the rain held off until the very end; we were all grateful for that. They took a tour of the Bartholomew Home (aka Bart House) and played a Swedish game of toss called, Kubb. I wish I had recorded it! We also gained a new member from their group, Mariann Tiblin. Thank you Mariann! I can say that this was the best group I’ve toured. They were curious, smart, and a super lively group. A big thank you to John Bjostad! He is our mighty volunteer of the week who trimmed our grass, pulled out the tables and chairs, and gave tours of the house.
